halloween type music
to startle start my day
and cozy up into
spooky season
i love it
i love it
i love it
it’s october
it’s october!
it’s spooky season
the spoopiest time of year
a moment of witches and werewolves
and spiders and ghosts and full moon eyes of black cats
and vampires and scary stories and one flickering candle left in an
otherwise darkened room
of music with theremins and organs
and sound effects that send a chill up your spine
where skeletons can meet up with their kind
and dissonantly play their bones
like xylophones
until the coming morning
we may have voted
on halloween
and experienced an unseasonably warm day
and while november 1st looks like
it’ll be just as warm
later,
the air is perfectly spooky this morning
complete with ominous winds
ever so slightly brightening
early early sky,
and crows calling
into the crisp fall air
and i’m almost happy
it’s this time of year
again
still
halloween nails
and a halloween sweatshirt
and a spooky rib
that keeps moving out of place
on its own
like it’s haunted
i think i’m already ready
for thursday
spooky Halloween day,
grey clouds blotting out the rising sun/
the apprehension as evening approaches
our last-minute costumes not quite done/
and the excitement to see children enjoying everything scary,
and friends visiting to help with vibes and such
i suppose this Halloween can still be awesome
[i’ve had doubts ever since last year’s COVID Halloween —
lonely, sickly, and distanced —
but it can be good again/
it can be good again]
the supreme satisfaction
when we hear from the front yard
laughter and admiration
at our Skeleton Self-Scare Party
[Halloween decorating:
we may be a little
later than we wanted
but at least we got it
and we got it
good]
why
oh why
do i love so
the halloween lofi
music options
any time of year?
i didn’t know
how much i was looking forward
to
spooky season
i didn’t know
how much
i needed
the halloween lofi
in my life[fi]
i might hazard
a guess
that this fall
i might even enjoy
the changing colors
and cooling breezes
and falling leaves
and season changes
but one thing’s for sure
i’m super stoked
to see skulls and bats
and skebletons and black cats
and ghosts and spiders and creepy shit
out in the real world
(not just inside our house)
my life
my poetry
slides from
quirky/cute/fun/carefree
to
the biggest angst you’ll ever see
and i know my life is actually
somewhere in the middle
somewhere in the in-between
but i never learned to see any shades
between the black and white
structured
yes or no
now or never
fact or falsehood
good or bad
so that simply makes my life
hard to quantify
at this point
wherein it has
so much positivity
but still so much pain
maybe that’s why i like spooky times so much
it’s supposed to be so scary
but it provides me with so much comfort
that i calm down the minute i hear dissonant tones
theremin whines
and boos and bones
rattling scattering my confusion
at the difference of the two kinds of life
and reminds me
that it’s ok
to live between
thank halloween.
the whoosh of the wind
catching
lush green leaves
(rather than through
bare bone branches)
gives this spooky weather
a rather
pleasant
feel
