rib
pain

no

rib annoyance

rib discomfort

ribs [seemingly] rubbing together
and the muscles around them spasming
so much so that i cannot sleep
i cannot write
i cannot concentrate

[but, no, it’s not pain.

pain i could ignore/take something for
discomfort feels like
for
ever

and i hate it]

October 27, 2023

coffee-filled condensation
drips from the tentacle
of my one-of-a-kind
hand-made
oversized
coffee
mug

and i try to rescue it
bringing as much of the drop as i can
from side
to finger
to mouth
but there’s still condensation
from cold fridge
to warm house
dichotomies
exchanging
vibes

and i’m glad i don’t have to worry about coasters for this table

much

October 2, 2023

the dying sinuses
of the colder weather
last week

the residual sinus headache
as the weather warms once more
this week

i am no longer a human person,
i am simply a conglomeration
of inflamed nasal passages
affected by temperature

June 12, 2023

the utter delight
in my voice, eyes, and mind
as i call to an empty room
“a ghost!!!”
after the bag of dog food goes unexpectedly
splat
to the ground

(although i know
gravity had some hold
on its fall)

i
i
i
my i is stuck
(not in life
i have plenty of self-awareness/absorption
to not be in danger of that)
but the i on my keyboard
and the more i type it
[iii]
the less likely it will remain
stuck
so here i be
here i go
i i i i i i i
me me

April 3, 2023

i keep reaching for my coffee
[an unthought action]
but i don’t know if i’m ready
to discount the taste of toothpaste
in exchange for the bitter wake-up of coffee
quite
yet

February 20, 2023

i’m pretty great
at
poetry of the mundane
(if i can give myself that credit)
but i’ve been edging towards
a more gruesome poetry
as of late

poetry of the gross daily tasks
the icky parts of being human
the scattered co-morbids of mental illness
the ones with strange satisfactions

and i don’t want to subject readers to such poems
as odes to pimple popping
and detailed descriptions of how my anxiety makes me
pick my skin to bleeding
but
they are part of my human experience
so maybe
they are also a part
of yours
?
