cryptic poems
are no fun
when they’re written for the pure purpose of being obtuse
but cryptic poems
that come fully fleshed
from the depths of your mind
and you had no idea where it came from
or even
what in the world it’s trying to confide
but it’s here
it’s out
in the world
those cryptic poems are okay.
wild
slingshot
whiplash
speed between
panic-induced emotionality
and depressive apathy
with absolutely nothing in-between
how lost
am i
that i don’t
feel things
except panic

stressing
less
than i probably should be
given
circumstances
but more
than i probably would be
without
anxiety
(are they related?)

some day
i’ll finish a
whole big-ass poem
(but probably not today)
it’s still so wild to me
that i can miss the puppy stage —
with all the tiny pounces,
and bumbling bounces,
and round face,
soft fur,
clumsy,
smol, smol creature;
and yet
see the videos/
want to cuddle
but prefer our puppy as she is now —
grown in to her scruffy self,
developed such a strong personality,
knowing her toys,
showing her smarts,
happy smiles,
looking to us
(her family)
for support.
puppies are incredibly cute,
but dogs are where
it’s at for me.
when will my longing
return from the
war?

just to

how in the world
to achieve it
because of growing up
as a severely independent
only child

for other people to remember
because sometimes

i forget
to tell
sudden raindrops
out of a halcyon sky
[so cloudy
it mimics
a deep clear blue]
one drop
then two
then a few
only on me
only on me
until they start to fall
on kip
and computer too
and we walk
swiftly
(but don’t run)
back home
to enjoy this summer storm
in peace
