it’s still wild to me
that we have these tiny rectangles
where we can chat with anyone
anywhere
anytime

i hate to be that millennial
but back in my day
no one had a cell phone
few people had internet
and when you did log on
it screamed
[and took twelve minutes to do
anything]

we say this is the age of innovation
but, perhaps in that way, things were really better
back then…

drink water
stay hydrated
don’t forget
don’t dehydrate

advice
from one probably-adhd, nonbinary, depressed and anxious millennial queer
to another

loom
lurk
live, laugh, lobotomy
the dark humor of
the millennials who can say
“tumblr raised me”

or maybe we raised tumblr

it’s always hard when the similarities
squeeze logic
from the picture

[i’m rambling
i’ve lost the thread
of this poem]

high ho
a pirates/actors/writers/millennials life for me

October 8, 2024

it still feels like the future
whenever i see the year
starting with a two
rather than a one
and it simply feels
unreal
to not have double zeros
between the first and last digit

i wonder if my brain will ever let go
of this harsh divide
between old millennium=safe
and new millennium=completely unknown
