what a perfect day
to stay at home
and do some sewing
or some reading and writing
and just chill
while the wind howls
and the rain pours
and the sky dumps all it has
upon our holiday house
cozy
October 25, 2024
for the past few days
i’ve been looking more forward
to the winter holidays
than halloween
and i don’t know what that makes me
except maybe
just wanting
to feel
cozy
October 20, 2024
the one good thing
about it getting cold
outside
is that i now have the excuse
to get cozy — donning huge sweaters
and huddling in warm, fluffy blankets
with hot tea
or hot cocoa
or hot cider
and indulging in a comforting book or tv show —
as the weather blisters outside,
inside
aiming
for nothing more or less than cozy
May 15, 2024
the rain falls
or just stalls
upon our little home
and we, cozy
inside, hide from the
wind and wet and chill and
catch our morning
here and now
August 15, 2023
it certainly is
a rainy day
tho the rain is not pouring
the vibes
are grey
and cozy inside
February 12, 2023
a puppy
eating ice cream
and then the whole container
what a treat
~~~
sometimes i worry
that i’m wasting my writing talents
on publishing in a blog
but then i am reminded
of folks who may have thought
i wasted my acting talents
on community theatre
and who is wasting
and who is benefiting
in either of those situations?
is it simply
elitist?
classist?
or simply the whole vibe of white supremacist culture
to give some places
more standing
than others?
i suppose what i’m saying is
tho i wish more folks would read my words
and i saw more accolades and admissions of quality
(moreso for my own validation/vindication/curiosity)
i’ll continue to place it
here
for anyone to come across it
who may want or need it
(including me)
late night writing
(ok
again
not really that late)
toasty fireplace
cozy tea
coffee ready to be placed in the fridge
for tomorrow morning
when i’ll write all over again
September 24, 2022
it’s been a while
since we’ve turned on
the space heater
designed to
emulate a place with fire
and though i know
sitting right in front
will slightly singe my skin
and the way i sit
will hurt my back
and the floor really isn’t the best
place to be to write these poems
but damn
if it’s going to get cold
outside
the least i can do
is give myself
the little pleasures
that make it all
slightly
bearable
when a small animal scratching from inside the walls
wakes you up like
your cat scratching at your apartment door
before six am
it is always a good idea to
heat up some coffee
and go outside with your kip and your dog
to watch the sun rise
(even if you can’t see the sun past the tree line)
what is it about
the rattle of an old farm house
basement heater
that makes me feel so
automatically
cozy?
